West Houston Wedding Venues: How Far Outside Houston Should You Look?
Fulshear Wedding Venues: Is It Worth Looking a Little Farther West?
If You Live in Fulshear, Houston Doesn't Have to Be the Center of Your Wedding Search
One of the funny things about planning a Houston-area wedding is how often everything gets measured from Downtown Houston.
But if you live in Fulshear, that's probably not how you live your everyday life.
Your family might be in Katy.
Your friends might live in Richmond.
Your photographer may be coming from Cypress.
Your caterer might be in Rosenberg.
Your parents may live in Sealy.
So why should the Houston city limits determine where you get married?
When searching for West Houston wedding venues, I think couples should start by asking where the majority of their guests actually live—not whether the venue technically has a Houston address.
For many Fulshear couples, traveling farther into Houston can actually mean dealing with more traffic, more congestion and a longer drive than heading west toward Wallis.
A venue being "outside Houston" doesn't necessarily mean it's inconvenient.
Sometimes it means the opposite.
A Little Farther West Can Get You Something Completely Different
Fulshear has changed tremendously.
So has Katy.
And as these communities have grown, there are more beautiful wedding venues, restaurants and event spaces than ever before.
But growth can also mean higher real estate costs, newer construction and wedding pricing that reflects the demand for those locations.
That's one reason I encourage couples searching for wedding venues near Fulshear TX to expand the map before making their final decision.
You may discover that moving your search just a little farther west gives you access to something you weren't finding closer to the city.
Brandt 1910 isn't a venue designed to look historic.
It actually is historic.
Our building dates back to 1910 and sits in downtown Wallis. We've restored it while adding the conveniences couples expect from a modern wedding venue.
Inside, you'll find our ballroom, private bridal and groom's suites and the beautiful architectural character of a building that has been part of this community for more than a century.
Outside, couples can use our garden for ceremonies and celebrations.
That combination is one reason couples searching for a historic wedding venue near Houston or unique wedding venues near Houston often end up discovering us even when Wallis wasn't originally on their wedding venue list.
Could Looking Outside Fulshear Save You Money?
It absolutely can—but this is where I always tell couples to compare more than the rental price.
Our 2026–2027 venue rental rates at Brandt 1910 are:
- Saturday: $6,500
- Friday or Sunday: $5,000
- Weekday: $4,000
- Wedding venues throughout Katy and the greater Houston area can easily fall into the $5,000–$8,000 range, and that's before you determine what is actually included with the rental.
This is where two venues with similar starting prices can end up having very different final costs.Maybe one includes tables.
Another doesn't.
One includes ceremony chairs but charges separately for reception chairs.
Another requires a particular rental company.
Maybe rehearsal time costs extra.
Perhaps setup is another charge.
Those smaller line items can become thousands of dollars surprisingly quickly.
At Brandt 1910, we include many of the things couples would otherwise need to arrange separately, including tables and chairs, indoor and outdoor ceremony seating, setup and takedown of tables and chairs, rehearsal time, access for bridal or engagement portraits, microphones, our large projector and screen, and on-site assistance.
So if you're comparing an affordable wedding venue near Houston with another venue, don't compare one rental fee against another.
Compare the final wedding-day cost.
That's the number that matters.
Vendor Flexibility Can Have a Huge Impact on Your Wedding Budget
Here's another area where couples can accidentally spend more than they planned.
Preferred vendor lists can be wonderful. We have vendors we love working with and are always happy to recommend them.
But there's a big difference between a recommended vendor and a required vendor.
At Brandt 1910, you're not automatically locked into one particular catering company simply because you've chosen our venue.
That matters.
Maybe you've fallen in love with a caterer in Fulshear.
Maybe your family has used the same barbecue company for years.
Maybe you've found a restaurant in Katy that makes exactly the food you want.
Or maybe you simply want to get several quotes and decide which menu works best with your budget.
You can do that.
We've even specifically designed Brandt 1910 to accommodate outside catering with a dedicated catering servery and private caterer's entrance.
That flexibility can become especially valuable when couples are trying to decide where to spend their money.
Perhaps you don't care about elaborate floral installations but want incredible food.
Maybe photography is your top priority.
Maybe you want to spend more on your honeymoon.
I'd much rather see a couple use their budget on the things they actually value than spend it simply because their venue contract required another upgrade.
Yes, Your Fulshear and Houston Vendors Will Come to Wallis
This question comes up more than you might think.
Will our caterer go to Wallis?
Will our photographer come that far?
What about the DJ?
The answer is generally yes.
Wedding professionals travel.
Your photographer isn't only photographing weddings in the neighborhood where they live. Caterers deliver throughout the region. DJs, florists, bartenders, hair and makeup artists and planners are accustomed to working at venues throughout the Greater Houston area.
We work with vendors coming from Fulshear, Katy, Richmond, Rosenberg, Houston and beyond.
One of my favorite examples is Brittany with Meadow Ryn Photography + Co. She lives all the way in Montgomery and still loves coming to Brandt 1910 to photograph weddings.
That's why I wouldn't rule out a venue based on an assumption about your vendors.
Ask them.
Some vendors may have a mileage, delivery or travel fee depending on where they're located, and that's something worth asking about when you request a quote.
But Wallis is absolutely within the service area of many wedding professionals serving Fulshear and Greater Houston.
What About Guests Who Have Been Drinking?
This is another concern I understand completely.
When Brandt 1910 first opened, rideshare availability in Wallis wasn't something I would have told a couple to depend on.
That has changed.
Uber now services Wallis, and guests can schedule a ride in advance.
Because Wallis is still a smaller town, I wouldn't recommend waiting until the end of the reception and assuming there will be a dozen drivers sitting outside.
Planning ahead is the better choice.
For some weddings, scheduling rides in advance works well. For others, a shuttle, limo, party bus or private car service from Fulshear or Katy may make more sense.
I've actually written more about this in our guide, Should I Book a Limo or Car Service for My Wedding?.
Transportation is something to plan—not necessarily a reason to rule out a venue.
Think About the Drive Your Guests Will Actually Make
Here's an exercise I recommend before deciding that a wedding venue is "too far."
Pick five or ten of your most important guests.
Your parents.
Your grandparents.
Your maid of honor.
Your siblings.
Your closest friends.
Now look at where they live.
If everyone is coming from central Houston, then choosing a venue deeper into Houston may make sense.
But if your guest list stretches across Fulshear, Katy, Richmond, Rosenberg, Sealy, Bellville and West Houston, Wallis suddenly starts looking very different on the map.
For a Fulshear couple, the question shouldn't necessarily be:
"How far is Wallis from Houston?"
A much more useful question is:
"How far is Wallis from us?"
Those are two very different things.
Don't Pay for a Location You Don't Actually Need
Wedding budgets have an amazing way of disappearing.
A few hundred dollars here.
Another $750 there.
An upgraded rental.
Another vendor fee.
Suddenly a wedding that was supposed to cost $25,000 is approaching $35,000.
So when you're comparing Fulshear wedding venues, Katy wedding venues and Greater Houston wedding venues, think about what you're actually paying for.
If Brandt 1910 ends up saving you $1,500, $2,500 or $3,500 after you compare the entire package—not just the initial rental price—that money could go toward something you care much more about.
Maybe it's:
- More hours with your photographer
- A wedding videographer
- An incredible honeymoon
- Upgraded food
- Your favorite wine or cocktails
- Live music
- More flowers
- A late-night snack
- Or money you simply keep in the bank
There is no rule that says you have to spend every dollar in your wedding budget.
Sometimes the smartest wedding upgrade is choosing a venue that gives you more flexibility in the first place.
Brandt 1910 Is Closer to Fulshear Than You May Think
If you're searching for a Fulshear wedding venue, I'd love for Brandt 1910 to be part of your search.
We're located in historic downtown Wallis, just west of Fulshear and Katy.
What I love about our location is that it feels like you've gotten away from the congestion of the city without turning your wedding into a destination event.
You can have the historic building.
The ballroom.
The garden ceremony.
The bridal and groom's suites.
The vendors you choose.
And the flexibility to create a wedding that doesn't look exactly like everyone else's.
That's why couples looking for wedding venues outside Houston, wedding venues near Fulshear TX, or a historic wedding venue near Houston shouldn't automatically stop their search at Fulshear.
Keep driving just a little farther.
You may find exactly what you were hoping for.
Come See Brandt 1910 for Yourself
Google Maps can tell you mileage.
It can't show you what it feels like to walk into a venue and immediately start picturing your wedding there.
If you're engaged and comparing West Houston wedding venues, Fulshear wedding venues, Katy wedding venues, or other wedding venues near Houston, we'd love for you to come see Brandt 1910 before making your decision.
Tour the ballroom. Walk through the garden. See the bridal and groom's suites. Ask us about vendors. Compare what's included. Then decide whether those extra few miles are worth it.
I have a feeling they might be.

Sometimes the best Fulshear wedding venue isn't technically in Fulshear.
It may just be waiting for you a little farther west.
